LearnQuest was a game developed by a group of four people. This was a really amazing experience getting to work alongside other people who were passionate about making a fully functional game. I had the amazing opportunity to be a project manager and engineer for our team. It was really important as a project manager to gather ideas from all around the group to guide us down the direction we wanted to take. In this project, we decided to learn to develop using GameMaker Studio 2. We wanted to create something that all teachers could use in their very own classroom or a student themselves. We thought of apps like Quizlet and how we wanted to create a universal of a study tool that was at the same time addicting to learn and play. We created a platformer which on each level the player is required to answer a question based off a question set. The length of the mission is dependent upon how long the question set is in order to complete your game. We collected over 50 educational lists from the internet for the player to play through our game with content we provided. However, there is a question editor in which students and teachers can create custom question sets to put into the game. Using the password feature, a teacher can lock the list and encrypt it into an external file for the students to import into their game. Since the list is password protected, the students cannot open and edit the questions on the file, therefore we are able to prevent cheating. The students can then play through a teacher provided homework set or quiz. The student can use our game to input their own questions and use as a fun study tool.
